Archive for the ‘Day After’ Category

I love Day After sessions.  The couple is back from their honeymoon, newly married, completely relaxed…there are no worries about getting the dress dirty or any type of time constraints and it’s just fun to get to see them, again!

Stellanie & Brian are residing in Cleveland and were speaking about a Day After in the city from the very first day we met.  I don’t get to shoot in Cleveland, so I was excited for the opportunity.  Winter was really starting to creep in that day.  It was so windy!  But the blue skies were beautiful and so was the couple.  🙂

Wow, where did 2011 go?  What an exciting year it has been!  I was just re-reading my post from last year and it just doesn’t seem like I wrote it 12 months ago.  Such a full year both personally and professionally…maybe that’s why it went by so fast (?).  Anyway, I’ve decided to split up my “best of” post this year into several posts, so stay tuned for a couple more.

I find myself, once again, very excited for the coming year.  Referrals this past year were through the roof and I thank you all for that.  That is one of the biggest compliments I could possibly receive.  2011 was a year full of familiar faces and it will be, again, this year, because of that.  Most of you know that my focus is on wedding photography, but I felt a slight shift this year as I seemed to be shooting more of everything (and loving all the families, children and newborns that I got to work with).  Some great updates will be coming to the site gallery and I have many blog posts to catch up on, so that you’ll be able to see all of the fun and gorgeousness I’ve had lately.

So this post will be about the many lifestyle sessions I had this year.  I don’t know if I consider them my best, but they are for sure some of my favorite.

I don’t know about you, but for me – once the holidays have ended, I start dreaming of summer.  Sad, right?  🙂  I long for barefeet, sunshine and endless hours of daylight.  What better way to cure the winter blues than to offer up a new contest.  So what do you have to do?  Simple, send in your favorite vacation photo from summertime or otherwise.  Give us all a chance to dream of getting away and no, it doesn’t have to specifically be a warm place.  Submissions will be taken until January 31st.  Anyone can enter…friends, family, clients, other photographers or complete strangers…you get the idea.  By submitting your image, you are giving me permission to post it on the facebook page.  Voting will take place starting February 1st and will end on February 7th at midnight.  Fans will vote by “liking” their favorite image.  The picture with the most “likes” wins!

Weekday session must take place before June 30th, 2011 and will be taken locally.  Can be any type of session (newborn, kids, engagement, day after, beloved, etc.).  Images can be emailed to me at mmgphotography@comcast.net.

Here's one of my favorite vacation photos. My husband and our little girl dancing on the beach in Maine. 🙂

Recently I was inspired to begin the journey of becoming a Certified Professional Photographer.  Currently there are fewer than 2500 Certified Professional Photographers (CPP) in the world.  There are two parts to passing this certification – an image submission and a written exam.  The written exam is to cover your technical knowledge of photography.  The image submission included 20 of my images from 20 different clients/sessions and had to show my knowledge and application of correct lighting, lens selection, and composition.  I also had to provide a Statement of Purpose for each image.  These images were then reviewed by a panel of 5 judges – all with the PPA designation of Master Photographer.  Not an easy task I was told to become a CPP (especially the image submission), but worth the designation – as my clients will know that I am dedicated to being the best at what I do.

I was thrilled when I received my letter last week congratulating me on passing the image submission (my daughter and I did a little happy dance 🙂  )!  Since then I’ve had some questions from others (who are also attempting the same designation) about my images.  Following is the portfolio that I submitted.

Thank you to all of my amazing clients for helping me create such awesome images and for trusting my artistic vision!

I will be taking the written exam mid-September and hope to be a CPP shortly after that!

This is our third session with Lauren & Oliver, but definitely not our last.  We’ve had such a great time working with them!  They have, too, and have already suggested that they would like to do an anniversary session each year with us.  So cool!  Thanks, you two!  We hope to see you both before the next session.  🙂
