A New Way To Share…

June 10, 2010

It’s always tough for me to choose which images I’d like to share on my blog.  I always have so many that I fall in love with, but to add 20 to 30 or more images in one post?  Well, it would be overkill….or would it?  The challenge for me was to come up with a way to share more images with you and also keep you from navigating away (from complete boredom) at the same time.  Enter Animoto.  I believe with this, the possibilities are endless.  So as the emergency broadcast system says – this is a test…

I will still be posting images.  Nothing beats a beautiful blown up still, but for those who would like to see more – stay tuned!  🙂

Though it is becoming more common, quite a few people are still wondering what is The Day After Session and why should I do it.  I began offering this just a short time ago when I saw how perfectly captured they were by some talented friends on flickr.  So after deciding that this was not only something I would’ve loved to have done after my wedding, but something I wanted to shoot myself – I invited Sarah and Dave to join me in Pittsburgh for their very own Day After session.

So back to the original question – what is it?  The Day After Session is a modern  session to get some amazing pics of you and your new spouse in your wedding duds after the wedding.  Despite the name, it does not need to be scheduled for the day after your wedding.  Maybe there’s a perfect location you had in mind that will just not fit into your time frame on the day of the wedding, maybe it’s the middle of winter and you’d like to do more images in the spring or maybe you’d like to do some cool shots of the two of you wading into the water on the beach in your dress and suit (or into a fountain like Sarah & Dave did!).  These are all great reasons to schedule a Day After Session.

So back to Sarah & Dave – they were married last November and were so much fun to work with during their engagement and the wedding day.  It was very early this year, when I invited them to the session and I was thrilled that they were equally excited about it.  The ideas started flying (ie. pink shoes and tie to match) and the wait for good weather began which brought us to May – almost a year to the day when I shot their e-session in Pittsburgh.  It was so great to get to see them and stroll around Pittsburgh together once again.  And so funny how many times they were congratulated, as people assumed this was their wedding day.

I want to thank you both, again, for helping demonstrate in the most amazing way what a Day After session should be!  I have several scheduled for the coming year and they are all very excited having seen your images.  🙂

These are only a few of my favorites.  Check out The Day After Gallery to see more.

Molly and Tom met when they were babies – talk about fate!  Someone bit the other (I can’t remember who) and about 18 years later – love bit the both of them.  These two found it hard to be serious when we shot their engagement session a couple of nights ago – which is exactly how we like it.  It started out rainy, but thankfully clear skies finally prevailed as we wandered through Courthouse Square and Dave Grohl Alley in Warren.  Dave Grohl (for those of you who don’t know) is the lead singer from the Foo Fighters and was the drummer for Nirvana.  He was born in Warren and last summer they dedicated an entire alley to him.  It’s completely covered with cool paintings and graffiti and is a really fun place to go shoot.  Molly & Tom are to be wed this coming July.  They had us cracking up, so their day promises to be a good time!  🙂

Tom being silly...love the sunflare here.

Dave Grohl Alley

Quite the coincidence that the apt. number was the same as their wedding date, don't you think? 🙂

Thanks you two!  We had a great time!

David and I had a great time wandering through the strip/warehouse district of Pittsburgh with these two and Point State Park where they were engaged.  Lauren is a talented up and coming photographer in East Liverpool, so it was really a great compliment that she chose us to capture their special day and a Day After Session (that I can’t wait for).  Afterward, they treated us to an awesome sandwich at Peppi’s where we got to know each other better.  This is what I love about our engagement sessions.  I feel like we’ve walked away with two new friends.  🙂

Here are a few of my favorites…

We’re looking forward to their wedding which is only a few weeks away!  Thank you, both!

This past year has been awesome to say the least and before starting off the posts for 2010, I wanted to blog some of my favs of 2009.  There are too many to post them all, but keep an eye on the blog this year.  I’ll be posting my favorites from each wedding and session.  I’ve worked with some pretty great people this last year.  I’ve made some really cool friends through my work and through flickr!  Love you, guys – you all know who you are! I’m looking forward to another incredible year!

Possibly my favorite picture of my little one ever. 🙂 Taken at the beginning of 2009.

1st E-Session of 2009 was spent with Sarah & Dave in Pittsburgh. This image was featured by Shutter Sisters last Spring for their word of the month project - "Together".

Some good friends welcomed a new baby!

The kids I got to work with this year were not only a lot of fun, but great posers and gorgeous, as well!

This little guy became part of our family at the very beginning of 2009 and has worked his way permanently into our hearts!

And the amazing and fun couples we got to work with this year, were endless.  There’s just no room to post them all…

Some great locations were chosen in 2009 for our very hip, very cool e-sessions (engagements)!  So here’s a sneakpeak at the “to be weds” of 2010!

And I can’t forget about the amazing seniors and models I got to work with…

you can check out quite of few of them in the gallery on my site.  A special thank you to my niece, Christie, who models for me frequently.  She’s an art student with an amazing eye for fashion and photography and is, also, one of my assistants!

The very lovely and talented Christie!

So there you have it!  My new year’s resolution is to just keep growing – as a person and photographer.  🙂
